Peacock Island or ‘Pfaueninsel’ lies in the river Havel in Berlin, with a ‘love castle’ built by Friedrich the II for his mistress Wilhelmine Enke. True to the torrid, the castle burnt down, but they’ve built wooden film-set style replacements, which doesn’t have to be a metaphor.
